We recognise the differing needs of projects. All projects have in common the need for
project risk management. Where they differ is in terms of the intensity and scope of the
project risk management that should be applied.

Large-scale projects conducted in potentially high-risk circumstances need the full panoply
of risk management, as described in this website. Smaller projects, with a more limited
budget, need risk management too: but within the bounds of what is realistic in their circumstances.

We can tailor each aspect of our independent risk assessment and other services to meet
the needs of smaller projects. For example:
• Risk identification can be based on a large-scale information gathering exercise, or can be
based on a day talking with the project manager and his immediate team.
• Assessing and prioritising risk benefits strongly from bringing to bear the full range of
qualitative and quantitative tools, but there is nonetheless much value to be gained from
applying simpler criteria.
• Documentation can provide comprehensive management information for the team, but if
this is unaffordable can be provided in a less formal, list-based format (or even as verbal
feedback online).

The message is that our support services are scaleable to suit the circumstances. We can
do a great deal, at the appropriate price, where such is cost-justified and proportionate in
terms of the scale of value we can add. But we can also rein in the scope of our service to
provide significant benefit to small programmes at a price they can afford. We would be
pleased to discuss the particular needs of your project.
